All India Institute of Homoeopathy in Hyderabad!

Memorandum to AP CM Kiran Kumar
Report by  Dr.Y.Bala Murali Krishna

Hyderabad, Oct 27(2012): Homoeopaths made a fervent plea with Andhra Pradesh  Government for setting up the proposed All India Institute of Homoeopathy(AIIH) in the capital city of Hyderabad to promote  research in Homoeopathy and boost the system.

In a memorandum to Chief Minister Kiran Kumar on October 25, the office bearers of the Indian Institute of Homoeopathic Physicians (IIHP), Andhra Pradesh Chapter, urged the CM to use his good offices with the Centre so that the premier institute on the lines of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS) is set up in the state.

Andhra Pradesh, with over 600 government homoeopathic dispensaries, four government and two private homoeopathic colleges, apart from a dedicated band of homoeopathic physicians, deserves the benefit of having the AIIH located in Hyderabad, which in turn could generate more employment besides boosting homoeopathy founded by German Physician Samuel Hahnemann.

The delegation, led by the National Advisory Board member of the IHP Dr.N.Srinivasarao, told the CM that the Planning Commission of India had earmarked Rs.250 crores under a central scheme for setting up the AIIH in the 12th plan period (2012-17). This is out of Rs.6000 crores sanctioned under various schemes of the AYUSH (Ayurveda,Unani,Sidha and Homoeopathy).

The delegation had also appraised the CM of the Centre’s commitment to open 5 Regional hi-tech Quality Control Laboratories in the country at a cost of Rs.100 core each under the 12th Plan Period.

It had further urged the CM to fill up immediately  70 posts of lecturers and 50 of medical officers that fell vacant  in four government medical colleges that the institutions  would not lose recognition.

It also regretted non-increase of seats in the government colleges for the last 30 years ever as the government had sanctioned opening of two private homoeopathic colleges in the last four years, giving an impression that the private sector was growing at the cost of the State sector.

Apart from immediately reconstituting the Board of Homoeopathy as Karnataka  did, the delegation pleaded with the CM for opening 25-bedded homoeopathic hospital at each of the district headquarters on the lines of Kerala go give boost to Homoeopathic school of medicine.

The Physicians had further demanded the CM to open a “State Epidemic Cell” involving homoeopaths to check outbreak of epidemics like Dengue, Swine Flu and other Viral Disorders which had now been virulent in different parts of the country, leave alone Andhra Pradesh.

Sorting out the problems of the AYUSH and NRHM medical officers and expeditious recruitment of medicos in the third phase were other demands the delegation made with the CM.

The delegation included IIHP national vice-president Dr.G.Srinivasulu, general secretary,AP Unit, Greater Hyderabad Unit president Dr.Ashok Purohit and  homoeopathic Doctors’ Forum president of the twin cities Dr.Harsha.

Appreciating the spirit of the delegation, the CM had immediately directed the concerned officials to put up a proposal with the Centre for doing the needful.   //EOM//

  1. Kerala is the best place for All India Institute of Homoeopathy.Kerala is the pilgrim center of real Homoeopathy in India.Minimum 2000 Op will be available per day in AIIH if started in Kerala. Moreover the proposal for AIIH has been first given to Central Ministry by a keralite;Dr.Ravi M Nair…

  2. It is a good step to start with.Instead of mushrooming every institute at Hyderabad it would be better if same is located at Tirupati or Visakhapatnam.

  3. Wise and intelligent move and initiative for the fraternity. A.P. homeopathic association, Hydrabad nust keep the move in vogue by its efforts. Thanks for the message.
