Homeopathy effective in mouth & foot disease of cattles in Kerala

cattleHomoeopathy drugs to check cattle deaths in Kerala

Veterinary Council and Homoeopaths of Kerala have proposed cheaper alternatives for preventing and curing Foot and Mouth diseases of cattle.

Homoeopaths of Kerala and Veterinarians in the state  have come together to appeal to the Government to allow homoeopathic drugs to be sold across the counter and Veterinarians  to provide cheaper alternative to allopathic treatment for them.

There are numerous cases of vets treating animals with homoeopathy and getting splendid results. But it has to get legal sanctity for it to be used on wide basis – says officials.

The biggest problem with Allopathy is that the treatment will cost more than the animal does…say Dr Ravi M Nair former advisor to Govt. of India.

Homoeopathy on the other hand provide cheaper alternatives with zero side effects.

Veterinary  council and state action council of Homoeopathy decade movement proposed cheaper alternative to preventing Mouth and Foot diseases in cattle.

Veterinary Council plans to hold induction courses in homoeopathy for vets supported by Homoeopathy practitioners.

Certificate course in Managing Human Resources for Health

doctors6Certificate course in Managing Human Resources for Health

The last date for accepting applications : December 15, 2013.

The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) and its constituent Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) are pleased to announce the launch of a Certificate Course in “Managing Human Resources for Health in India – Improving Human Resource Management in the Health Workforce” offered through Distance Learning.

This course will be launched in January 2014.

Capacity building for mid-career professionals is often challenging because of their inability to stay away from their workplace/s for a considerable time period. Distance learning offers a new and innovative way of training wherein participants get to learn at their own pace without having to take time off to attend a campus-based course.

Also, despite a lot of focus on capacity building of the health workforce to improve health outcomes in India, very few initiatives are aimed at strengthening human resource management (HRM) capacities of health managers at state and district levels.

Addressing this systemic gap and as a response to the need for skills-building of programme managers on human resource management, the proposed certificate course aims to equip health managers with skills essential to manage the health workforce within the Directorate of Health Services and the National Rural Health Mission.

The content for the course has been developed by faculty at PHFI and IIPHs with guidance from key experts, senior leadership at PHFI incorporating the findings of a Training Needs Assessment (TNA) conducted in several states of India.

Participants would benefit from enhanced knowledge of HRM principles, practices and foster environment for better management of health workforce.

For details on course content, fee, enrolment criteria and application form, please visit http://www.phfi.org/our-activities/academic-programmes/distance-learning-courses/1136.

Mother Theresa Institute Pondi to start D pharm Homoeopathy

motherThe Mother Theresa Post Graduate and Research Institute of Health Sciences in Pondicherry will start two-year diploma courses in Ayurveda Pharmacy, Siddha Pharmacy and Homoeopathy Pharmacy from this academic year onwards. This is the first time a health educational institution in Pondicherry is starting D Pharm course in Ayush subjects. Gujarat Ayurveda University in Ahmedabad and Aringar Anna Hospital of ISM in Chennai are the other two institutes in India conducting D Pharm course in Ayurveda and in Siddha.

The dean said the department of ISM in the college is conducting the course in collaboration with the Ayush department of Pondicherry government. Message about the commencement of the course has been sent to the Ayush department in New Delhi. ‘Homoeo Pharmacies’ staff unqualified’- Kerala PCO

nurses2“Nurse cum Pharmacist courses are approved by Indian Nursing Council” – Dr Nisha Paul -,Principal & Controlling Officer of Homeopathy. Govt. of Kerala

Ninety per cent of homoeopathy pharmacies across the state do not have trained pharmacy staff – the reason, as pointed out by Homeopathy Department Officials, is the absence of a formal training course. The situation forces hospital authorities to run pharmacies with unqualified staff, which is a matter of worry as chances are very high that the patients may get wrong medicines.

The proposal to start formal homeopathy pharmacy courses in its colleges did not see the light of day.

When contacted the Principal and Controller of Homeopathy Colleges, Nisha Paul, admitted that there was a shortage of pharmacy staff in all homeopathy hospitals in Kerala.

“There was a course named NCP (nurse cum pharmacist), but it has been discontinued in its third year in 2009. It could only release 120 trained pharmacists in three years against a demand of at least 1,000.

The course did not have the approval of Indian Nursing Council and it was the key reason why we discontinued it to avoid complications in the future.” She also said that 940 homoeopathy pharmacies are functioning in Kerala. Most of those are running with unqualified staffs.

Homeopathy treatment has received a shot in the arm with the arrival of palliative care and revived cancer treatment facilities. More and more patients are becoming attracted to it.

Shortage of staff in this context becomes a serious issue which demands utmost consideration.

“The idea to start a new course to train people to work in homeopathy pharmacies are under consideration,” said Nisha.[Source]
