Homoeopathy and AYUSH gaining popularity abroad

The Ministry of AYUSH is contemplating setting up an AYUSH hospital in Kazakhstan, and it is in advanced stages of establishing an Ayurveda college in Bangladesh, the syllabus for which has already been drafted by an advisory committee.

“The Ministry is receiving similar requests from other countries, as the ancient Indian systems of medicine (Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy) have started gaining greater acceptance around the world, particularly after the Department of AYUSH got separated from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW),” said M. Lakshmu Naidu, member of the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) and former professor of Dr. NRS Government Ayurvedic College in the city.

Mr. Naidu said international protocols laid down by the World Health Organisation were coming in the way of AYUSH. It was because of funding and various other constraints faced by research establishments dealing with AYUSH.
