Admissions to PhD and Integrated PhD in Neuroscience with fellowship

Fellowship for Junior Research Fellows is Rs.16000 per month and for Senior Research Fellows Rs.18000 per month.

National Brain Research Centre is the only institute in India dedicated to neuroscience research and education. Located in the foothills of the Aravali range in Manesar, Haryana, NBRC is an autonomous institute funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, and is also a Deemed University.

Admissions to Ph.D. and Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. programmes for the year 2014

National Brain Research Centre (NBRC) will select candidates through following channels for admissions to Ph.D. and Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. programmes for the year 2014.

Ph.D. in Neuroscience:
NBRC offers a Ph.D. programme in Neuroscience. Students from diverse academic backgrounds are considered for this programme. Fellowship for Junior Research Fellows is Rs.16000 per month and for Senior Research Fellows Rs.18000 per month.

Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. in Neuroscience:
NBRC is one of the first Institutes in the country to develop an Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. programme in Neuroscience. These students are provided a fellowship of Rs.5000 per month for the first two years. From the third year onwards, they are paid fellowships on par with the Ph.D. students. After completion of the programme, the students will be awarded both M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees. Students are provided Hostel accommodation on campus.

Eligibility

Ph.D. (NEUROSCIENCE)
Master’s degree or equivalent in any branch of Science such as Life Sciences/ Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer applications/ Pharmacy/ Veterinary Science/ Psychology from a recognized Institute/ University or a minimum of four-year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering/Technology/Medicine from a recognized Institute/ University.

Candidates appearing for final year of the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.

Only the candidates with at least 55% (for SC/ST/PH candidates, 50%) marks or equivalent grade from secondary (10th) examination onwards will be considered. Candidates should calculate their percentage up to two decimal points without rounding off to determine their eligibility.

INTEGRATED M.Sc-Ph.D. (NEUROSCIENCE)
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any branch of Science such as Life Sciences/ Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer applications/ Pharmacy/ Veterinary Science/ Psychology/ Engineering/ Technology/ Medicine from a recognized Institute/ University.

Candidates appearing for final year of the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.

Only the candidates with at least 55% (for SC/ST/PH candidates, 50%) marks or equivalent grade from secondary (10th) examination onwards will be considered. Candidates should calculate their percentage up to two decimal points without rounding off to determine their eligibility.

Only Indian nationals are eligible for the above programmes.

Reservation/Concessions for SC/ST/PH candidates will be followed as per Government of India rules.

Candidates short-listed for the interview will be informed latest by May 2014. The interviews are likely to be held in the month of May/June 2014. The interview dates will also be published on the NBRC web site.
