A number of animals are used in this country for conducting a variety of experiments. There has been a long field need to prescribe guidelines and procedures for animal experimentation covering all aspects. This publication outlines in detail the various procedures for the maintenance and conducting experiments involving all permitted species of animals for undertaking biomedical research.
In preparing this document care has been taken to address all issues including the ethical aspects. It is expected that research scientists use this document as the baseline information to follow procedures in their experiments involving various species.
