KEYWORDS: Dreams, Kent’s Repertory

INTRODUCTION
Dreams are given importance in Homoeopathic Case taking and analysis. Dreams reveals suppressed desires and emotions and provides relevant rubrics for Repertorisation. Kent’s Repertory is based on the philosophy of Generals to Particulars. Dreams comes under generals. Each person has different dreams. Dreams helps in individualising a patient and locate similimum.

Dreams mainly occur in the two hours of  Rapid-eye movement (REM) stage of sleep. The length of a dream can varies from few seconds to 20–30 minutes. People are more likely to remember the dream if they are awakened during the REM phase. The average person has three to five dreams per night and some may have up to seven. Most of the dreams are immediately or quickly forgotten. Dreams tend to last for longer as the night progresses.

Common Types of Dreams are: –

DAYDREAMS: A daydream starts with a compelling thought, memory or fantasy, and your imagination runs away. The longer you daydream, the deeper you become immersed in your private fantasy land. During daydreams, you are semi-awake. Clearly not asleep – but not fully checked-in with reality, either.

NORMAL DREAMS: Everybody has normal dreams every single night. These dreams arise mostly out of REM sleep and are essential to our survival. Common dreams about people and experience that we can sometimes forget.

NIGHTMARES: Nightmares are distressing dreams that cause the dreamer to feel a number of disturbing emotions. Common reactions to a nightmare include fear and anxiety.

FALSE AWAKENING DREAMS: A vivid type of dreams that feels like you have woken up but you are actually still asleep.

LUCID DREAMS: In Lucid dreaming, dreamer is aware that they are dreaming. They may have some control over their dream. This measure of control can vary between lucid dreams.
