This dissertation explores the role of homoeopathy in treating chronic skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, vitiligo. The study aims to conduct a retrospective analysis of chronic skin conditions such as eczema , psoriasis, vitiligo of patients from Govt.Homoeopathic medical college Kozhikode .
This retrospective study provides an opportunity to analyze previously documented cases to identify trends in remedy selection, potency choice, repetition patterns, and clinical outcomes. Such an analysis can offer valuable insight into the practical application of homoeopathic principles and contribute to the development of evidence-based guidelines for chronic skin disease management. By correlating clinical improvement, particularly through parameters such as the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI), with treatment strategies, the study seeks to enhance understanding of the scope and reproducibility of homoeopathic therapeutics in dermatology.
Through this retrospective evaluation, the present study intends to document clinical trends, patterns of remedy response, and changes in DLQI scores, thereby contributing to the growing body of literature that defines the scope of homoeopathy in chronic skin conditions. The outcomes of this study are expected to encourage further prospective, multicentric clinical studies to establish stronger evidence for the role of homoeopathy in dermatological practice.
DATA AND METHODS: “ Efficacy of Homoeopathy in treatment of chronic skin diseases : A retrospective case series analysis with DLQI ” was conducted by analyzing 60 cases from Govt. Homoeopathic medical college , Kozhikode. Data were collected from patient records to assess remedies, potencies and treatment outcomes of chronic skin diseases such as eczema, psoriasis, vitiligo.
RESULTS: The findings indicated that among 60 patients with chronic skin diseases such as psoriasis , vitiligo, eczema 42 patients showed marked improvment (70%) , while 11 cases (18%) exhibited worsening of symptoms and 7 cases (12%) remained at standstill without significant change. The recurrence rate was found to be low. Also a Significant improvment in Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) scores was observed after treatment.
CONCLUSION : The study suggests that homoeopathy can play a meaningful and integrative role in the management of chronic skin diseases, offering both clinical improvement and improved quality of life to patients. Homoeopathy has shown potential to reduce disease severity, enhance quality of life and sustain remission in patients suffering from conditons such as psoriasis, eczema and vitiligo. The low recurrence rate suggests that homoeopathy is a safe , well tolerated and potentially effective therapeutic option for chronic skin conditions.
