Abstract
The use of high dilutions are in vogue since inception of homeopathy, when Christian Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathic system of medicine, began experimentation with various substances of different origins, diluted and applied for therapeutic response (drug proving) and clinical conditions (simile principle).

The effects of high dilutions have been repeatedly verified in various laboratory models, as well as in clinical practice. In addition to homeopathy, high dilutions are also applied in isopathy, iso-endopathy, veterinary, dentistry and agronomy etc. The basic and fundamental research is undertaken to understand basic tenants of homeopathy, and to accept or reject the plausibility of homeopathy.

A substantive work has been done in this area by Indian scientists over past few decades. India has a history of more than five decades of organized research, which is reflected through publications in the late 1960s.
