New Delhi, Dec 1: The 66th World Homoeopathic Congress of the Liga Medicorum Homoeopathica Internationalis (LIGA) has kicked off today in this capital city of India where the global experts from across 36 countries vowed to intensify scientific clinical research to further boost Homoeopathic School of Medicine.

The Congress had also pledged to dispel criticism of the system by explaining the “scientificity” of the medicine and its adherence to the “Laws of Nature” that had stood the test of times since it was founded by German Physician Samuel Hahnemann who not only propounded the “Law of Similars” in 1792 and the “vital force theory” but presented as many as 67 remedies to the world through provings.

This apart, Hahnemann had brought forward the “homoeopathic philosophy” and the theory of trituration and dynamisation that brings out the innate remedial potential of substances in their sub-atomic forms including from the substances like Lycopodium, gold and platinum hitherto considered “inert” by other Schools.

“Born inGermanyand brought up inAmericaand Europe, the Homoeopathy has grown rapidly inIndiawhich is going to become a super-power of the world for the system with its large acceptance by the public,” the experts said while playing glorious tributes to the founder and other masters who had nurtured the system since inception world over.

Formally declaring the Congress open, the LMHI President Dr.Jose Matuk Kanan (Mexico) said all other countries should emulate the “Indian Model” of Homoeopathy in developing effective policies for promoting health to reach the remote and rural areas. Homoeopathy was strong in public health system inBrazil,India,Mexico andUK, he said, adding the expertise should be shared among different nations.

Pleading for united efforts and global cooperation, particularly withIndia, in new drug provings and clinical verification of drugs in Homoeopathy, Dr.Michael Van Wassenhoven (Belgium), Secretary, Research (LMHI) said this could further establish the real scientific evidence to satisfy the critics. Modalities for collaboration on clinical research would be discussed at length in the ongoing Congress sessions, he said.

More than 2500 delegates including 200 from 35 countries have been participating in the 4-day mega event that discusses various aspects of “Homoeopathy for Public Health: Need of the Hour” and devise strategies for achieving this objective world over through multi-later collaborations and cooperation among homoeopaths.

The organizers had planned to have 65-hour oral and 100 poster presentations that deal with homoeopathy handling HIV/AIDs, Viral fevers and several other challenging disorders in the modern era from hospitals to grass roots level of primary health centre across the world.

Incidentally,Indiahas unique distinction of having 185 homoeopathic colleges including 43 post-graduate institutions as of now as against only 2 in 1952. More than 2000 graduates turn out of these colleges every year even Homoeopathy had been brought under the Department of ‘Ayurveda, Unani, Sidha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH)’.

Recently, Homoeopathy in India has gained global recognition by successfully implementing a “Tele-Homoeopathy” project, taking advantage of the ICT and the medicine to the doorstep of thousands of tribals in remote areas of north-eastern state of Tripura.

Efforts are underway to give further boost to Homoeopathy in Indiain the 12th Plan Period (2012-17) with more allocations and schemes to integrate the system in public health domain along with other indigenous systems of medicine, as hinted by Indian Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today at the inaugural session of the Congress.

All the proceedings of the sessions have been web-cast to benefit the global audience.
