Homoeopathy and the goal of life

Dr Amit Bikram Basu

ABSTRACT
The mental faculty of the human being consists of Will, Understanding and Memory. If we go through the Lesser Writings of Dr. J.T.Kent, in the chapter ‘Correspondence of Symptoms’ we can see how the

‘Will’ and ‘Intellect’ are actually related to to different organs. In case of a female ‘Will’ is directly related to the uterus, ovaries 3. As long as her ‘Will’ is satisfied, a balance in her life is maintained. Thus the intense desire of a female to become a mother is also reflected, from the fertilization of the ovum, then implantation of zygote, formation of the placenta —–as a whole the woman becomes pregnant, which satisfies her inner will of getting the motherhood and she reaches her goal. A similimum given only

intensitifies this ‘Will’ and it will overcome all possible obstacles, thereby her long desire to be a mother

is thus satisfied.

KEY WORDS- Will,Goal,PCOS,Freedom of mind, Creativity, Hering’s law

INTRODUCTION
Will, Understanding and memory are the three pillars of mental faculty of any human being. The ‘Will’ which has been given highest value in the mental faculty is related to love, desire, hatred etc .Had there been any problem in the ‘Will’ then an individual’s love is turned to hatred, the person desires to destroy his own life, a wife gets aversed to her husband, a mother hates her own children —– gradually an insane condition develops, and may lead to various physical problems —– relating to heart, liver or sexual organs. As the ‘Will’ is directly related to heart and liver, when a correct prescription is made in any curative condition, then there is every possibility that the heart or liver may be affected. But if a person gets his heart condition improved but a desire to destroy his life follows then the prescription must be antidoted as because symptoms are taking the wrong direction

If we go through the ‘SICK’ chapter of Kent’s philosophy, it is again said there each drug acts either upon the ‘Will’, ‘Understanding’ or ‘Memory’. Likewise the affection of Aurum Met is more on the ‘Will’, where he loses his desire to live and commit suicide. So also the affection of Argentum Nit is more on the ‘understanding’, thereby he feels that the big building may fall upon him, while he go past the corner of the road .

Thus as long as these three aspects of our mental faculty is functioning normally, every person will be in a positive state of mind. There will be a perfect harmony between the person and the outside world, where the individual can give his optimum output and put his earthly existence for higher purposes of mankind. His desire for giving optimum output for the welfare of human being is nothing but the inner

‘Will’, whose positive intensity has the ability to overcome all possible obstacles.

The patient then came on 10th April, 2016 with all smiles in her face, as she told me, she had a positive preg-color test(fig-2), 2 days ago, and she had a missed period, her LMP-2/03/2016.

She went away with her husband to Chennai , as her husband got a new job there. She consulted an Obstetrician there on whose advice she did an Obstretical scan on 16/04/2016 which

proved her to be pregnant. (fig-3)

DISCUSSION- The goal of an individual is an important aspect in any homoeopathic treatment. In the homoeopathic prognosis as long as the creativity or the freedom of mind of the patient remains satisfied, the treatment is going on the right path. Here freedom relates to any aspect of human life where his mental or emotional aspect gets satisfied 3,4. A positive ‘Will’ of creativity or doing something good for the society not only satisfies an individual’s mental or emotional needs but at the same time it is a sign of positive health. A person in order to get this emotional satisfaction can go the utmost level, to overcome all the  possible obstacles.

Here in this case, her inner ‘Will’ has played a pivotal role. Her inner desire of wanting to be a mother has taken an upper hand on all possible obstacles. It cannot be said at this point that her PCOS is no more, but rather it may still be present, but still she has become pregnant. As said initially, that proper homoeopathic treatment satisfies the goal of an individual first, as it fulfills the person’s mental or emotional needs, thereby putting him/her on the healthy path. This goal of an individual may not be long term, it varies according to different circumstances of life. Here in this case, the patient’s goal was to satisfy her inner emotion, i.e she wanted to be a mother and her positive ‘Will’ along with the homoeopathic medicine have put that on the right path by overcoming all obstacles — it proves the positive aspect of her health.

If we follow our Master  and true healing art, then homoeopathy will be again triumphant, as she will be gradually cured of the PCOS, because the process of cure has been initiated and she has reached hergoal. Thus the cure starts from that organ or part of the body, which is most important at that point of any individual’s life. So the ‘Hering’s law of Cure’ is also not fixed. The four aspects of the law i.e

1)   From above downward

2)   From within outwards and

3)   From more important organ to less important organ

4)   In the reverse order of their appearance

will vary according to the goal of the individual. All the four aspects may not be applicable to one single individual. It will vary from person to person, according to the goal of the individual, at that point of his/her life.

CONCLUSION– In every curable case, proper homoeopathic treatment, enhances the vitality, so that one can overcome the dynamic morbific influence. It is no doubt that a true homoeopath can enhance the mental, social, physical  health of the mankind, so that one can put himself for higher purposes, and for that reason only the Master, in his preface to Organon of Medicine, first edition, has written that “The physician who enters on his work in this spirit becomes directly assimilated to the Divine Creator of the world, whose human creatures he helps to preserve, and whose approval renders him thrice blessed.1”
