KANPUR: Many patients sought expert advise during a telemedicine camp organized by homoeopathy experts of the Sanjay Gandhi Post-Graduate Institute of Medical sciences (SGPGIMS) and Ganesh Shanker Vidyarthi Memorial Medical College (GSVM) at GSVM hall here on last Wednesday.
The camp was organized to mark the birth anniversary of Dr C F Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homoeopathy, who was born on this day in 1755.
The telemedicine camp was inaugurated by the president of Jawaharlal Nehru Government Homeopathic Medical College, Lakhanpur, Dr Alok Parikh. Senior homeopathic department officials, including the district homeopathic officer, were also present.
The camp opened at the GSVM hall at around 10 am. Renowned experts of homoeopathy give advice to around 40 patients from Kanpur and Lucknow.
“The telemedicine camp was attended by homoeopathic experts from Homoeopathic Medical College Kanpur, SGPGI and Banaras Hindu University (BHU) as well. The experts diagnosed the symptoms of the patients and prescribed proper treatment through computer network,” informed Dr AK Singh, District Homeopathy Officer.
The official also added that the chief guest of the occasion, Dr Alok Parikh was delighted to see the telemedicine mode of treatment and wished to launch it on a permanent basis in the city. Proposal regarding the same will soon be sent to the state government.
Several other events marked the day here on Wednesday.
Members of Sharnam Homoeopathy Research Society commemorated the day by organizing free medical camp at Lal Imli Crossing. This crossing also have a large statue of CF Samuel Hahnemann.
Hundreds of patients were attended by Dr Jagdish Chandra Nigam and Dr Harsh Nigam during the six hour long camp, from 9 am to 3 pm. The patients were also urged to collect free medicines from the hospital of the organization at Nai Sadak.
Meanwhile, the members of Homoeopathic Medical Association of India also organized a symposium to mark the day. Senior experts took part in the symposium and discussed the problems being faced by this ancient mode of treatment.
Dr BN Acharya, president of Homoeopathic Medical Association of India (Kanpur Branch), while addressing the members during the symposium, said that this branch of medicine needs immediate government attention. He also advised the members to plan and proposed the government to increase the budget of homoeopathic colleges and hospitals.
Apart from this, several private events were also held in the city in which experts took part and commemorated the contribution of Dr Hahnemann. [Source]
