Gujarat -Duties of Ayush doctors in various National Health Programmes

As you all well aware that Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) are rationally recognized Indian systems of medicine and has been integrated into the national health delivery system under NRHM as well as regular government budget head.

As there is no clear job chart for AYUSH doctors (Recruited either from NRHM or State) are available earlier, which leads their underutilisation. Therefore a clear cut TOR for these large numbers of doctors is attached herewith which will help in monitoring and evaluation of AYUSH doctor’s performance by utilizing them in all national programmes.

The AYUSH DOCTOR of Primary Health Centre (PHC) is responsible for implementing all activities under guidance of Medical Officer of respective PHC. It is not possible to enumerate all his tasks. However, by virtue of his designation as second level health officer at PHC, it is implied that s/he will be also responsible for proper functioning of the PHC and activities related to RCH, NRHM and other National HealthPrograms in the presence or absent of MO PHC.

The detailed job functions of AYUSH doctor working in the PHC are as follows:

  2. Preventive and promotive work
  3. Reproductive and child health programmes
  4. National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) Malaria
  5. Control of Communicable Diseases:
  6. Leprosy:
  7. Tuberculosis:
  8. School Health:
  9. NRHM
  10. Training
  11. Administrative work
