Homeopathy is a widely used complementary and alternative medical system. Parents often prefer homeopathic treatment for children because of perceived safety and minimal side effects. This dissertation explores parental perspectives on the role of homeopathy in managing common pediatric health issues. Understanding parental satisfaction and perceived outcomes provides insight into health-seeking patterns and may guide patient-centered pediatric services. This dissertation shows the role of homeopathy in pediatric cases, focusing on pediatric suffering from conditions such as respiratory disorders, skin complaints, attention disorders etc. The study aims to assess how individualized homeopathic treatment influences symptom management, well-being, and overall quality of life among the children attending a homeopathic medical college hospital.
This cross-sectional, mixed-methods study provides an opportunity to analyze clinical outcomes and parental experiences, thereby identifying the satisfactory levels of parents of children who opted homoeopathic treatment for their wellbeing. Ultimately, this research aims to strengthen the scientific basis for the integration of homeopathy in comprehensive pediatric healthcare practice. This includes children receiving homeopathic treatment for at least one month and above were included. Quantitative data were collected from patient case files and by using LIKERT scale which is analyzed with descriptive statistics.
DATA AND METHOD:
Homeopathy is commonly used as a complementary or alternative therapy in pediatric practice. Parental perceptions strongly influence health-seeking behaviour for children. A cross sectional mixed methods study titled: “Homoeopathy approach in pediatric health issues; a study of parental satisfaction”, A study of pediatric cases management and parental satisfaction, experiences and outcomes. A cross-sectional, mixed-methods study was conducted using a structured survey questionnaire. 250 (aged 1-12 years) attending the outpatient department of Government Homoeopathic medical college Kozhikode, receiving homeopathic treatment for at least three months were included. Quantitative data were collected from patient case files and by using LIKERT scale which is analyzed with descriptive statistics. Qualitative data Descriptive statistics for demographic data and satisfaction scores.
- Cross-tabulation to identify trends (e.g., satisfaction level vs. duration of treatment).
- Inferential statistics (Chi-square tests, correlation analysis) to assess relationships between from interviews provided insights into patient satisfaction and perceived benefits.
- Using structured questionnaires; designed to capture demographic details and parental perspectives and observed outcomes.
Objectives: To assess parental satisfaction with homeopathic management of pediatric conditions, document perceived outcomes, and identify factors that influence choice of homeopathy.
METHOD: A cross-sectional observational study using a structured questionnaire was administered to 250 parents attending the pediatric outpatient department of government homeopathic hospital. Data included demographics, clinical conditions, treatment duration one month and above, observed outcomes and satisfaction. Descriptive and inferential statistics were performed. Results: The sample included 250 parents of children across age groups; 1-12 years, presented with respiratory complaints, attention disorders, skin complaints etc. Respiratory conditions were most common (35%). Overall, 70% reported being ‘Satisfied’ or ‘Very satisfied’. Improvements reported included reduced symptoms (65%) and fewer episodes (50%). Chi-square analysis demonstrated a statistically significant association between treatment duration and satisfaction (χ² = 11.40, p = 0.495).
Conclusion
The study suggests that homeopathy plays a meaningful role in the management of pediatric conditions, providing both clinical improvement and enhanced quality of life. Individualized homeopathic treatment demonstrated potential to reduce disease severity, promote emotional stability, and improve vitality. These results indicate that homeopathy is a safe, effective, and integrative therapeutic approach for managing pediatric disorders and improving overall health outcomes in child populations. Recommendations include larger prospective studies and integration of objective clinical measures.
