Abstract
A general term for age-related wear and tear of the spinal discs. Spondylosis is common and worsens with age. This condition is often used to describe degenerative arthritis (osteoarthritis) of the spine.

Most people don’t have symptoms, but some may experience pain or muscle spasms.

Spondylosis disease is the cause of significant morbidity in our society. It is estimated that approximately 14% of the population will have a cervical spondylosis at some point in their lives.

The prevalence of cervical spondylosis in children and adolescents occur less commonly than in adults and old age. The pain increases with the age, attaining a maximum in the 40-60 years.

In many cases, no specific treatment is required. If symptoms occur, treatments include meditations, Homoeopathy, physiotherapy and sometimes surgery.

OBJECTIVES:
The research work is done on the topic ―EFFICACY OF HOMOEOPATHIC TREATMENT IN CERVICAL SPONDYLOSIS PAIN MANAGEMENT PRESENTING WITH PSYCO-SOMATIC DISEASE (APHORISM 225): A RANDOMIZED CONTROL TRIAL”. The objectives of this study are to evaluate the effectiveness of homoeopathic medicines in the management of pain in cervical spondylosis with mind – body connection between the age group 30 to 60 yrs, to study the role of constitutional and acute mode of treatment in nephrolithiasis and to prevent its recurrence.

METHODS:
Thirty well-diagnosed cervical spondylosis cases, confirmed on the basis of clinical features, along with the positive cervical X-ray were randomly selected. Patients of various occupations and different socio-economic status were included. The sample included both sexes aged 30 to 60 years. Diagnostic criteria were mainly on clinical presentations & investigations. The study was conducted at our College. The subjects for the study was selected from the college and peripheral OPD‘s, IPD department, and regular camp visits of college.

Selected 30 cases were divided into two groups i.e. Group A and Group B respectively. Both the groups comprised 15 cases each.

  • Group A (i.e. Treatment Group) was receiving Homoeopathic remedies along with yoga and massage and counseling on the bases of chief complaints and mental complaints. (psyco-somatic disorder)
  • Group B (i.e. Control Group) was receiving Homoeopathic remedies along with yoga and massage and counseling on the bases of chief complaints and physical complaints (somatic disorder)

The cases were studied keeping the individualistic & holistic concept in mind & by following the standard clinical case taking method. After repertorisation the remedy was selected on referring Materia Medica and on the basis of totality of symptoms considering g the underlying miasm.

The following g para meters were fixed accord in g to the type of response obtained after treatment:

Recovered: Feeling of mental and physical well-being and no other similar complaints observed f or a period of 6 months.

Improved: Feeling of physical well -being along with reduction in frequency of pain complaints.

Not improve d: No reduction of complaints even after defined period of treatment. RESULT:

Out of 30 cases, maximum number of cases i.e., 12 cases accounting to 43.33 showed recovery, 6 cases i.e., 13.33 % improvement and 12 cases i.e. , 43.33% showed no improvement.

Among this,
Results of treatment group:
Out of 15 cases, maximum number of cases i.e., 14 cases accounting to 80 % showed recovery, 1 cases i.e., 20 % improvement.

Results of control group: Out of 15 cases, 1 case accounting to 6.67 % showed recovery, 1 case i.e., 6.67 % improvement and 13 cases i.e., 88.67% showed no improvement.

INTERPRETATION AND CONCLUSION:
In the present out of 30 patients taken up for study, 14 cases recovered totally, 12 did not improve and 4 improved. The most commonly indicated constitutiona l drugs were Sulphur, Silicea, pulsatilla, Lachesis, Lycopodium, Calcerea carbonica, Lan can, Rhus tox, Phosphoric acid. The miasmatic basis of cervical spondylosis pain management in this study was as follows: Psoric – 5 cases i.e. (16% ), Sycotic – 12 cases i.e. (40% ), Psoro -Sycotic – 13 cases i.e. (43.67%), The results of the stud y were highly satisfying and the Role of Homoeopathic remedies in the treatment of cervical spondylosis pain have been very effective.

From this study it is evident that majority of cases of Cervical spondylosis pain can be effectively relieved by homoeopathic constitutional treatment. Homoeopathy by addressing all aspect of the individual and their complete set of symptoms offers better treatment for patients suffering from Cervical spondylosis. Homoeopathic remedies to begin with reduce the frequency of acute exacerbations, reduce the intensity of symptoms and reduce the relapse and chances of recurrence. They reduce dependence over other and also surgery.

Keywords:  Cervical spondylosis, holistic concept, individualization, miasm, hammer’s theory (mind-body connection) and homoeopathic remedies.
