A major recognition for excellence in education, patient care and research
Kozhikode: The Government Homoeopathic Medical College, Kozhikode, has been awarded an A+ Grade in the national assessment and rating of Homoeopathic Medical Colleges for the Academic Year 2025–26 by the Medical Assessment and Rating Board for Homoeopathy (MARBH), National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH). The assessment was conducted through the quality-assessment process of the Quality Council of India (QCI).
The achievement marks a significant improvement from the B Grade received by the institution in the previous assessment, reflecting the continuous strengthening of its academic standards, patient-care services, infrastructure and research activities.
The College has stated that it is the only Government Homoeopathic Medical College in South India to have secured the A+ Grade in the present rating.
The national recognition comes against the backdrop of the College’s expanding academic and healthcare facilities. Established in 1976, Government Homoeopathic Medical College, Kozhikode is affiliated to the Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) and recognised by the National Commission for Homoeopathy.
Comprehensive academic programmes
The institution offers BHMS undergraduate education, MD postgraduate programmes, PhD programmes and Pharmacy education, providing an academic pathway from undergraduate learning to advanced postgraduate and doctoral research.
The College has been strengthening its academic environment through improved teaching facilities, postgraduate education, research-oriented academic activities, institutional collaborations and exposure to advanced scientific facilities.
Advanced patient-care facilities
Patient care remains one of the major strengths of the institution. The attached hospital provides comprehensive homoeopathic healthcare services, supported by specialist outpatient clinics and diagnostic and allied healthcare facilities.
The College provides specialised services in areas including infertility, psychiatry, geriatrics, paediatrics, de-addiction, skin and cosmetology, kidney care, pain and palliative care, lifestyle diseases, thyroid disorders, allergy, ADHD and autism, and neuro-developmental disorders.
The institution also has facilities including a hi-tech laboratory, physiotherapy services, inpatient care and pharmacy services, enabling patients to access a range of healthcare services under one institutional framework.
With specialist doctors, modern diagnostic support and affordable treatment, the institution serves patients from Kozhikode and neighbouring districts while also functioning as an important clinical training centre for students and postgraduate scholars.
Research facilities
Research is another major focus of the institution. The College is expanding opportunities for UG, PG and PhD scholars through collaborations with reputed scientific, academic and research institutions.
Recent institutional initiatives include research-oriented collaborations and academic engagements in areas such as medicinal plants, pharmacognosy, phytochemistry, pharmaceutical analysis, biotechnology, analytical science and scientific validation of homoeopathic medicines.
Such collaborations are intended to provide students and researchers with access to specialised laboratories, scientific instruments, technical expertise and interdisciplinary research environments.
