Government Homoeopathic Medical College Kozhikode and ICAR–Indian Institute of Spices Research Sign MoU for Collaborative Research

Government Homoeopathic Medical College, Kozhikode, and the ICAR–Indian Institute of Spices Research (IISR) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote collaborative research, academic cooperation, and interdisciplinary scientific studies.

The MoU aims to facilitate research on the conservation, cultivation, quality evaluation, standardisation, and scientific validation of medicinal plants and homoeopathic drugs. The collaboration will bring together expertise from diverse fields, including pharmacognosy, phytochemistry, soil science, analytical chemistry, biotechnology, and other allied disciplines.

A major focus of the collaboration will be research in the emerging field of Agro-homoeopathy. The initiative aims to scientifically explore the potential role of homoeopathic preparations in supporting sustainable and environmentally compatible agricultural practices. Research focus on areas such as seed germination, root development, flowering, crop growth and yield, improving the overall resilience of crops and climate-resilient agriculture – there by supporting farmers.

Agro-homoeopathy holds promise as a low-cost, eco-friendly, and sustainable approach that may help reduce agricultural input costs, promote soil health, and support natural crop protection. The proposed collaborative research will focus on generating scientific evidence and evaluating its potential applications in organic and climate-resilient agriculture.

These initiatives will promote knowledge sharing, capacity building, and scientific collaboration between the two institutions including undergraduate and postgraduate students, PhD scholars, faculty members, and researchers of both institutions

This partnership marks an important step towards strengthening scientific research in medicinal plants, homoeopathic drugs, sustainable agriculture, and allied areas.
