Kerala Homeopaths & Allopaths streams spar over ‘drip’

ivIHMA took firm stands against IMA

IMA has no right to intervene in the functioning of homoeo hospitals

As per order No. 12-17/Public/84/CCH dt 20.01.1997 Homoeopaths and Hospitals can use all auxiliary measures including IV,Oxygen etc..

The State wing of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has demanded immediate action against the authorities of the Government Homoeopathic Medical College Hospital here on the grounds that the staff there were administering medicines through drip without being qualified in the procedure. In a press release, State president of the association A.V. Babu and secretary A.V. Jayakrishnan said that administering of drip by inexperienced staff might harm patients. Hence it was unlawful and unscientific to use the system in homoeo hospitals, the IMA stated.

This was in response to a statement made by the National secretary general of Indian Homoeopathic Medical Association (IHMA) T.K. Hareendranath that the IMA had no right to intervene in the functioning of homoeo hospitals. The IMA said that it was just pointing out the malpractices.

In a press meet on Wednesday, Dr. Hareendranath had claimed that drip system had been legalised in homoeo hospitals as per a government order to set up pain and palliative care wards in them. Drip was administered by those who had completed the Nurse -cum-Pharmacist (NCP) course. They were trained in administering drip as part of the 10-month course, he said.

However, the validity of the NCP course is under question, as many claim that it has been discontinued and deemed outdated. The IHMA is against allowing the course in the private sector after it was discontinued in the public sector. [Source]

Homeopaths don’t administer medicines through parenteral route…supporting terminally ill and debilitated patients with IV lines and Multivitamins are utmost essential and should go on…the worst part is IMA coming up with theirs and MCI laws. We do not come under their umbrella…Instead CCH should speak now and be equally responsible for public healthcare like MCI…our homeopathic folks in Kerala should have thought about such requirements.

  1. CCH had already permitted use of I.V. fluids, oxygen and glucose, in a council meeting held on 20.11.1996. So, my brother homoeopaths, just do whatever you think necessary for the patient and neglect the red eye of IMA.

  2. Friends
I was using homoeopathic injections during my previous days .I t was very effective and gives spontaneous results. But some Homoeopathic doctors itself said that I am using allopathic medicines, due to this gossiping, I stopped using Homoeopathic injections. Above all must understand that Homoeopathic system is the inborn child of Allopathic system. In other foreign countries, this is a post graduate system, after completing graduation in Allopathic medicine. Any Homoeopathic medicine can be injected. We have a huge numbers of medicine can be administered through injections without any side effects. Think it over by our authorities and organizations to implement such methods in government hospitals. It may very much helpful in managing acute diseases and in emergencies and pain and palliative management
