Srinagar, Jan 9: Jammu and Kashmir High Court has stayed the selection list of 18 medical officers who were selected for district Kupwara under AYUSH of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM).
A bench of Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar stayed the selection list after taking note of a communication by assistant director (ISM) Kupwara to director (ISM) J&K wherein he stated that District Health Society Kupwara did not consider his opinion as expert and the list was issued without his signature.
After taking the communication of the assistant director on record, the court stayed the selection list till the next date of hearing and asked the respondents to file objections to the petition. The court also issued show-cause notice to the concerned authorities to justify the selections made by them.
On January 7, Chairman District Health Society Kupwara (District Development Commissioner) had issued a provisional selection list of 18 candidates who were selected on contractual basis against the post of medical officer under AYUSH of NRHM scheme in district Kupwara. The candidates were directed to report to the office of convener District Health Society Kupwara for joining alongwith relevant testimonials.
Counsel for the petitioners Advocate G M Wani pleaded that the respondents did not prescribe any criteria for selection and in the selection panel experts were not included.
He argued that opinion of the only expert who was included in the panel was not considered which made the entire selection process irrelevant. Advocate M A Thakur defending some of the selectees accepted notice on their behalf.[Source]
