2nd National Conference of the Health Economics India

The Health Economics Association of India (HEAI) will organise a three day conference on Strengthening Health Systems in India during 29-31st May at SRM University in Chennai, involving several plenary, roundtable and technical sessions with a health economics perspective. The conference will be co-hosted by SRM University and IIT Madras. Several national experts, policy makers, civil society groups, academia and media would participate in the three day deliberations. The conference is expected to deliberate and discuss the ways and means of strengthening the health systems in India and the key challenges it faces.

Some of the broad themes of the conference would include: i) health financing, ii) health workforce, iii) the role of medicines/vaccines/health technology, iv) the role of public/private sectors, v) governance, regulation and institutions. Specific issues underlying these themes may include equity, access, effectiveness, affordability and efficiency of the health system.

To participate in the conference, you are requested to submit an abstract (max 300 words) by 8th  March, 2013. The abstract format can be downloaded from our website (www.heai.org.in ). Abstracts may be submitted for either individual sessions or panels.

Participants whose abstracts are accepted for presentation would be intimated by 15th  March, 2013, so as to enable them to book tickets for travel. Efforts will be made to financially support economically challenged participants for their travel, boarding and lodging. Students and Ph.D scholars will be reimbursed travel expenses for the shortest round trip (AC 3-tier) train fares. The conference registration fee for members is Rs. 500 and this may be paid at the venue of the conference. For student-members and Ph.D scholars the registration fee will be waived on production of appropriate student identity. The registration fee would cover lunch, conference materials, etc. Subsidized accommodation would be available for non-student/non-Ph.D scholars.
