Hyderabad : Doctors under the aegis of the Indian Institute of Homoeopathic Physicians(IIHP) demanded constitute of a Cabinet sub-Committee with immediate effect to resolve their long pending grievances in the best interest of the medical profession.
Fill up Vacancies in Govt.Colleges:
One of the demands include filling up of 70 vacant posts of lecturers and assistant professors in the state where it has 4 Government (Hyderabad, Kadapa, Gudiwada and Rajahmundry) and 2 Private colleges.
The vacancies, pending for several years despite several representations, be filled up to ward of the threat of the Central Council of Homoeopathy and the Dept. of AYUSH, Govt. of India, not allowing admissions of students from the next academic year, ,” Dr. Dr.N.Srinivasa Rao, Member, National Advisory Board, IIHP, Hyderabad, and other representatives told a press conference here today.
“The Govt. of India had already stopped admissions in 5 Ayurvedic colleges in the state of A.P. ( www.indianmedicine.nic.in -List of colleges not granted permission in 2011-12). Similar fate is awaiting the Govt. Homoeopathic colleges in Andhra Pradesh too. The Govt. should immediately take up the recruitment for the posts of Lecturer and Asst.Professors to avoid stringent action by the central government,” the doctors said.
Increase UG & PG Seats:
They had also demanded increase of U.G. and P.G. seats in Govt. Homoeopathic Colleges in A.P which had been stagnant at 160 and 18 respectively for the last three decades.
On the other hand, the 2 private colleges in AP had 50 seats each and have been trying for 100 each from next academic year onwards.
Many students of A.P. are going to Karnataka, Maharashtra and Tamilnadu where many private colleges are offering U.G. (B.H.M.S. Course of 5 ½ years duration and M.D. of 3 years duration ) with an intake of 100 seats in U.G. and 60 seats in P.G. in every college.
“What a pity in Andhra Pradesh ? It is callousness on the part of Govt. in not encouraging its own institutions and indirectly helping the private colleges to grow. We think that the Govt. colleges and the Dept. are helping the private colleges to prosper at the cost of govt. colleges. The Govt. of India at any moment may withdraw permission for the A.P. State Govt. Homoeopathic Medical colleges due to lack of teaching staff,” the IIHP representatives bemoaned.
Recruit Docs for NRH Mission:
The IIHP had also urged the government to recruit homoeopaths immediately for the third phase of the National Rural Health Mission, pending for the last three years.
Enhance Stipend for Jr.Docs:
The IIHP had further urged the Government to increase the stipend applicable to the junior doctors whose service to patients in various hospitals is remarkable.
Basic health care is largely handled by the Post Graduates and the internees.
They work round the clock and discharge their duties.
Unfortunately their stipends are delayed beyond any reasonable limit. It is almost 11 months they have not received their stipends in spite of several representations.
This is very unfortunate and highly regrettable. The Govt. should immediately respond to this and release their stipends at the earliest possible, they said.
AIIH in Hyderabad:
The IIHP had renewed its plea for locating the proposed All India Institute of Homoeopathy in Andhra Pradesh for which the Planning Commission, Govt. of India, had earmarked Rs.250 crores for the institute to be set up on the lines of All India Medical Sciences, Delhi.
“We have already represented the matter to the Chief Minister. We request all political parties to prevail on the Central Govt. in getting this prestigious institution to Andhra Pradesh.
