Jaipur: The health department will start screening of children studying in government schools, anganwadi centres and madrassas for 30 different kinds of diseases from this month.
The AYUSH doctors, who will conduct screening under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakaram (RBSK), will be provided with training at district level from July 8 to 12. Earlier, madrassas were not included in RBSK but from this year, the government has included 3,114 madrassas.
Around 2.30 lakh madrassa students will also be screened for 30 different kinds of diseases.
“There are 249 blocks in the state. We have constituted two teams for each block. Each team will have two AYUSH doctors – one male and one female doctor. Also, there will be separate teams at seven zone headquarters. The teams will conduct the screening of children throughout the year,” a health department official said.
The health department has roped in 1,024 AYUSH doctors for conducting screening of the diseases. Apart from 3,114 madrassas, 80,000 government schools and 62,000 anganwadi centres have also been included in RBSK.
An official said that RBSK is an important tool for early identification and early intervention for children from birth to 18 years to cover 30 diseases under 4 ‘D’s such as Defects at birth.
