Utility of Back chapter of Kent’s Repertory in locomotor disorders

Dr Manjunath Patil

Locomotive syndrome is a condition of reduced mobility due to impairment of locomotive organs. The term “movement disorders” refers to a group of nervous system (neurological) conditions that cause abnormal increased movements, which may be voluntary or involuntary. Movement disorders can also cause reduced or slow movements.

The term Locomotor is derived from the Latin words loco – “from a place” and motivus – “causing motion”. So locomotion means movement from one place to another And thus locomotor disability hampers movement from one place to another.

The Homoeopathic Materia Medica is a rich source of symptoms and remedies that are proven to be effective not only in managing the symptoms but also, in many cases, curing the same, related to locomotor disorders.

Repertory of the Homoeopathic Materia Medica by Dr. J T Kent is a splendid index of the humongous Materia Medica, based on the principle of deductive logic. However, the Repertory is enriched with a number of clinical rubrics and the like, which can facilitate a physician in the selection of the most appropriate similimum even in case of a limited number of symptoms.

Here are listed such rubrics from the Back chapter from Kent’s Repertory that can be referred to in cases of Locomotor Disorders.
