ABSTRACT
Background:
Tagetes Erecta is a high-value ornamental crop with medicinal and commercial significance, yet farmers face constraints from low seed germination and irregular flowering. Magnesium Phosphorica, a homeopathic preparation of magnesium hydrogen phosphate, is traditionally used to enhance nutrient uptake, chlorophyll synthesis, and stress resilience. However, no comparative study has assessed its bio stimulant effects across 6X and 6C potencies.
Methods:
A prospective, case-control observational study was conducted over 7 weeks in a controlled environment. Forty-five surface-sterilized seeds were divided into three equal groups (n=15): Control (distilled water), Case Group 1 (Mag Phos 6X), and Case Group 2 (Mag Phos 6C). Treatments were applied as weekly foliar sprays (5 mL/plant) from day 1 to week 5, with solutions freshly prepared by diluting 2 mL of medicine in 500 mL of water.
Results:
Germination began earliest in the 6X group (day 4), followed by 6C (day 5) and control (day 6). By day 14, cumulative germination was 90.0% (6X), 83.3% (6C), and 73.3% (control; p=0.012). Mean germination time reduced significantly to 5 days (6X) and 6 days (6C) versus 7 days (control; p<0.01). At day 50, plant height was 48.2 cm (6X), 45.7 cm (6C), and 38 cm (control)—a 26.8% and 20.3% increase, respectively. Flowering commenced on day 30 for 6X (55 flowers by day 50), day 40 for 6C (25 flowers), while controls produced only 12 flowers with no blooms until day 50.
Conclusion:
Magnesium Phosphorica 6X demonstrated superior efficacy over 6C and controls, significantly accelerating germination, increasing height, and boosting flower yield by 81% above control. It emerges as an affordable, non-toxic, and environmentally sustainable bio stimulant for enhancing marigold cultivation.
